How to Book Yoga in Bali as a Visitor

Use your stay length, location and preferred format to choose between a drop-in, class pack, retreat or private villa lesson.

The useful part, first

Match the booking to your actual stay: use a drop-in while plans are fluid, buy a pack only after checking its validity, and itemise every retreat or villa-session inclusion.

01

Choose the booking type from your itinerary

Start with a drop-in when you are moving between areas, testing different styles or unsure how much yoga you will attend. It keeps the decision tied to one confirmed class instead of locking money into sessions you may not use.

A class pack makes sense only after you know your accommodation, transport time and likely practice days. At The Yoga Barn in Ubud, the published single drop-in is IDR 180,000, while the 3-class card is IDR 495,000 and the 5-class card is IDR 780,000.

The Yoga Barn states that its 3- and 5-class cards are valid for 30 days, and that class cards are non-transferable, non-refundable and non-extendable. If you are leaving soon or may change islands, pay for one class first rather than buying the lowest apparent per-class price.

02

Use the studio price, not the neighbourhood label

For a direct Ubud-to-Canggu comparison, the published examples sit close together. The Yoga Barn in Ubud lists a single class at IDR 180,000, while The Practice in Canggu is listed at IDR 150,000.

Samadi Bali in Canggu is listed at IDR 155,000 per class. These figures describe named studios in a published roundup, not a fixed price for every class in either area, so check the current studio page before travelling.

The cheaper ticket is not automatically the cheaper afternoon if reaching it requires a long transfer. Put the studio address into your map app, add time for finding the entrance and parking, then compare the total outing rather than only the amount displayed beside the class.

03

Treat the timetable as the booking information

Use the studio's own timetable for the decision that matters: the exact class, start time, level and booking status. A directory can help you discover studios, but the timetable is the place to check before you set out from your hotel or villa.

The Yoga Barn publishes venue hours of 06:30 to 21:00 from Sunday through Friday and 06:30 to 22:30 on Saturday. Its schedule covers yoga alongside meditation, breathwork, Pilates, sound healing, movement and dance, so read the individual listing instead of assuming every session is the same format.

For a class you can miss without consequence, checking on the day may be enough if spaces remain. For a sunrise session, a popular workshop, a fixed travel day or a group booking, reserve as soon as the date is settled and save the confirmation on your phone.

04

Read a retreat as a package, not a daily class price

A retreat is paying for a bundle of accommodation, scheduled practice and services, so compare its inclusions with the cost of arranging those parts yourself. Blooming Lotus Yoga lists a 4-day, 3-night Ubud retreat from US$350 per person, including accommodation, two meals each day and all classes.

That particular package lists two yoga classes daily, one workshop, daily meditation, two meals, a Balinese ceremony, pool access, Wi-Fi, a welcome drink and a free shuttle to Ubud. It also states that lunch is not included, showing why the word all-inclusive should not replace an itemised reading of the page.

The listed check-in window is 13:30 to 15:30 on the first day, and check-out is by 12:00 on the last day. Before sending a deposit, ask about room sharing, airport transport, excursions, treatments, dietary limits, cancellation and any activity described separately from the core package.

05

Arrange a villa lesson with a complete brief

A private teacher needs more than the villa name. Send the exact address and map pin, identify the available floor area, say if the space is indoors or outside, and mention rain exposure, uneven tiles, low ceilings or nearby furniture before agreeing on the lesson.

Describe the group and the intended practice in practical terms: gentle stretching, beginner Hatha, Vinyasa, mobility, meditation or a stronger session. Include injuries, pregnancy, recent surgery and movements to avoid, then ask the teacher to confirm that the plan fits each participant.

Request one written total before confirming. Ask specifically if it includes travel, mats, blocks, straps, bolsters, setup, cleanup, deposit and cancellation. Confirm the arrival time with villa reception or security as well, because a teacher can be on time and still be delayed at the gate.
