The useful part, first

Give the photographer and makeup artist one shared brief and a timeline that protects the shooting light.

In this guide

01

Brief for the final images

Share the photographer's mood board, location, wardrobe colours and intended crops. Beauty close-ups, beach portraits and hospitality campaigns require different skin finish, durability and detail.

02

Build one shared timeline

Work backward from the desired light. Include makeup, hair, dressing, travel and a buffer; sunset will not wait for a late start. Tell the artist if looks or locations change during the shoot.

03

Clarify touch-up coverage

For heat, wind or multiple looks, it may be worth keeping the artist on set. Confirm whether this is included, charged hourly or limited to a final check before departure.
